Nepal 1979 - A trek from Pokhara to Muktinath via the Dhaulagiri Ice Fall

This trek takes us along the deepest valley in the world. The braided river bed of the Kali Gandaki runs between the Dhaulagiri and Annapurna Massif's - between Annapurna 1, the tenth highest at 8,091m, and Dhaulagiri, the seventh highest mountain in the world at 8,167m.

We take a side trip up onto the summer grazing pastures at the foot of the Dhaulagiri Ice fall, a huge glacier between Dhaulagiri 1 and Dampus Peak. This gives us amazing views of the valley below running up to Mustang in the north.
